DNGP GIS Layer General Information
GISLayer
County level ground-water concentration for Magnesium.
For Viewing Only
When viewing remotely sensed imagery, without sufficient outside information one can quickly lose reference with respect to the specific area currently in view. To overcome this problem, DNGP makes available numerous Geographical Information System (GIS) data layers. These layers can be individually turned on and off via DNGP. These layers are available only for viewing via the DNGP map interface - the layers cannot be separately downloaded nor are they incorporated in an image or data product when it is downloaded.

GIS Layers
Currently available GIS layers include:

  • Boundaries, such as state, county, and township lines, indications and labels for cities, and time zones.
  • Transportation, including Interstate and State highways, plus airport locations.
  • Water, including watershed boundaries, lakes, and rivers. Locations of dams are also provided.
  • Layers indicating subsurface Geology or Environmental features are also provided, as are selected Agricultural Census data.

Metadata, or information about the data layers, such as source, format, accuracy, or other characteristics, can be found here.

Background Raster
These GIS layers are overlayed onto a user selectable raster image. Typically this is the user-specified satellite or airborne image, but in lieu of such a selection DNGP defaults to gray-scale DOQQ images. Alternatively a street-map-like DRG image basemap can be selected.

Future GIS
These GIS layers for DNGP are in the process of being updated, and new layers are being prepared.
