Northern Great Plains Vegetation & Climate Monitor

Here in the Map Room you can find a collection of vegetation and climate data products, which you examine individually or compare against each other. Common techniques include comparing the same date between wet years and dry years, as well as viewing the four most recent dates. We'd like to hear from you how you most find this Map Room useful, or what improvements might be helpful.

How To Use
When first you arrive, by default the most recent data available for each of the four map types is displayed below. To view historical data, you can select the date and type for each of the four maps individually. You can also speed side-by-side comparisions by selecting the same date for all four maps (upper left control) or changing all to the same map type at once (upper right control), from which you can then easily change each to different dates. Clicking RESET will return all four maps to the default display.

Click on each map if you wish to view them full size in a new window, or right-click to save the .png file to your computer. (If you need the original data for your area, please contact us.) Read about the data types and sources, and learn about map color-coding on the Help Page.

The maps can also be viewed in Google Earth by clicking the links provided with each map. (Download free Google Earth viewing software).
