Finding the Value of a Pixel

Often it is helpful to know the values associated with a particular pixel. In order to do this, go to Tools once again and pick Inquire Cursor, or click on inquire cursor icon. Notice that when you do this a white crosshairs appears in the middle of the main view, and a separate dialog showing the file pixel and the LUT value appears. The file pixel shows the actual value of the pixel, and the LUT (or lookup table) value shows the value associated with the color shown in the viewer. Move the crosshairs by clicking and holding in the middle of the crosshairs and dragging them to a new location. Notice how the values change for different areas.
