RESPONSIBILITIES
The National Suborbital Education and Research Center, part of the Northern Great Plains Center for People and the Environment at University of North Dakota, invites applications for the position of DC-8 Science Mission Specialist. The successful candidate will be the primary interface with the NASA Dryden flight operations and maintenance personnel for all science missions scheduled for NASA DC-8 research platform. This position will help to define upcoming science missions, schedules for instrument integration activities, investigator requirements for those missions, and deployment schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Science Mission Specialist will be qualified as a DC-8 Mission Manager which requires a flight physical, altitude chamber testing, and training on DC-8 systems and safety procedures. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Atmospheric Science, Engineering, or related discipline and 2-3 years experience in airborne science, aviation, or atmospheric science. This position also requires the ability to travel up to 10 weeks per year and a home base in Palmdale, California. Information about NSERC can be found at: http://www.nserc.und.edu.
