Console Operators will handle the planning and operation of a space-borne imaging system aboard the International Space Station (ISS) as well as communicate with NASA ground personnel and other associated tasks and functions. The position has the responsibility for utilizing both commercial and organizational software applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend weekly planning, operational meetings
- Participate in simulations and "dry run" operational courses in preparation for ISSAC operations
- Communicate with NASA ground personnel with regards to imaging system operation via Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) systems
- Utilize AGI's Satellite Took Kit (STK) to pre-plan multiple image captures on a daily, weekly basis
- Utilize ISSAC organizational software to operate onboard imaging system
- Complete image post-processing
- Coordinate and communicate with end-users as well as manage image requests
- Control image naming conventions
- Participate in meetings as required
- Other duties and functions not listed
Communication Requirement
- Console Operators will communicate with other ISSAC team members as well as NASA operational personnel and end-users (farmers, ranchers, land conservationists, etc.)
- Twice-yearly presentations will be conducted as End of Semester Reviews (ESRs)
- Professional communication with vendors and personnel within and outside UND
Work Environment Characteristics
- ISSAC Console Operators will be involved in the busy, time critical operations of an imaging system aboard the International Space Station from the ISSAC Science Operations Center (SOC) in Clifford Hall.
- Will use state-of-the-art computing equipment and software applications
- Must be able to work well in a team environment
- Must be self-motivated and able to work under pressure
- Must be able to cope with somewhat non-standard work schedule
- Must be organized
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful applicants will demonstrate proficient verbal and written communication skills, ability to work well under pressure and be a quick study
- Be able to solve problems on the fly, with little supervision/guidance
- Be able to adapt to rapidly changing work environment/unknown situations
- Able to follow documented procedures both from ISSAC and NASA
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communications, technical writing abilities a plus
- Flexibility to work varying coverage hours including weekends and nights
- Must be comfortable speaking on headset-style communication interface
- Basic understanding of imaging operations
- Knowledge of Photoshop a plus
